Understanding the Mobile App Environment

We built Hellotracks with simplicity in mind. This overview will guide you through the basic functionality of the Hellotracks mobile application and show you how to access and use its main features.

On successful login, Hellotracks appears depending on the user role (Administrator, Operator or Worker) and the device's operating system (iOS or Android). Here is a sample illustration of the main page (default view is Map) from the mobile application.

The mobile application is laid out in a structured format to give the most available data to the users with a minimal amount of click-through. The layout is illustrated below, which gives you:

  1. Main Menu: Gives quick access to Teams, My places, My timeline, My tracks, Messages, Settings, Help documentation, and access to deleting users and logging out. This will be explained in more detail below.
  2. Team Bar: Allows you to find members of your team quickly. By tapping on any team member, you will be able to jump to where they are on the map and see their movements.
  3. My Location: Immediately jumps back to your current position.
  4. Layer View: Gives direct access to Map. By long-pressing, you can send an emergency notification with your current position to everyone in your network.
  5. Location Switch: IMPORTANT!, this needs to be turned on (i.e. Active) for the Hellotracks app to track movements. When it is not active, the map changes to a dull grey color (i.e. Not in service).
  6. Show my timeline: Shows all your activities, including check-ins, check-outs, stops, and Job-related activities throughout the day.
  7. Share my location as URL:  Enables you to share your current location as a URL. You have the option to set the link to be valid for 2 hours, for today or until you change your password.
  8. Map: Gives different options of how you would like to utilize your map, these include Regular Map, Hybrid and Satellite (iOS) or Terrain (Android). There is also an option to show or hide traffic data.
  9. Jobs: Opens a list of all your Jobs scheduled for the day assigned by your Administrator or Operator. You can optimize the Jobs to reorder them for the fastest calculated route.

When you open the main menu in the upper left corner, you will find access to other major features in the mobile application.

From here, you can access:

  • Teams: Shows a list of all team members in your network. If you are trying to locate a specific team member, this is another way to find them, aside from using the Team Bar.
  • My places: Shows a list of all Places that are registered in your network. By clicking on the Place, you will immediately jump to that Place on the map and can see a small amount of information on the Place.
  • My timeline: Shows a list of all your activities, including check-ins, check-outs, stops, and Job-related activities throughout the day.
  • My tracks: Shows all your recent tracks. You can dive deeper in detail into each track, including information about the date, distance, speed, and duration.
  • Messages: Shows all the messages in your network. You can attach your current location, or the location of a team member or a Place, in your messages.
  • Settings: Allows you to customize your language preference, time format, distance unit, and map settings. You can also enhance your location accuracy from the settings.
  • Help: Opens the Hellotracks Help documentation, allowing you to contact us or search for solutions in our Help articles, including the one you are currently reading.

Within the main menu, when you tap the three-dot icon, you will find access to the User Account controls.

From here, you can access:

  • Settings: Customize your language preference, time format, distance unit, and map settings. You can also enhance your location accuracy from the settings.
  • Choose your current status:  Set a status that also serves as a label. For example, you can set it to 'Available' to provide your team with clear information about your current status.
  • Emergency: Alert your team during an emergency situation. To send an emergency notification, hold the Layer View button for three seconds.
  • How does it work?: A brief explanation of how Hellotracks works.
